December30,2020 As 2020 we reflect back on the year 2020.
it came in as any year does with great hope and joy for another year. March came and still everything going well. School went on spring break and thats when every thing started in So. Texas. Students didnt go back to school, restaurantes, bars, non essential businesses, and most shocking CHURCHES were all closed Bishop Mulvey put a dispensation in place from March till October. CHURCH services were livestreamed every sunday for us to watch. people had to work from home when possible or a lot last their jobs completely. We also lost very many Parishioners to Covid19, two of which were Religious Education Teacher Maria (Chico) Nino from Immaculate Conception Parish & Past DRE & teacher Marty Vara from Holy Family Parish. For weeks we had funerals almost every day, and with covid19 only a few people were allowed to attend their family or friends funeral that was very hard. After a few months we were allowed to open but at 25% capacity, then 50%. now 100% but still 6ft apart, no shaking hands durring sign of peace or greeting people and Mask ar worn at all times. Our Religious Education classes are being done at home with the books that the diocese recommended. Father John has done a great job keeping both parishes running as smoothly as possible during all this madness. Confessions were by appointment only in Father office. We have 1 and a half days left of 2020 Covid had gotten lighter, but now is starting to come back stronger now than at first. Parishioners are coming back slowly Masses are still being livestream for those that have underlining conditions that getting Covid19 would be very bad for them. With continued Faith, & Prayers we will bring in the year of 2021 with complete Faith that God will take care of us. GOD BLESS everyone and HAPPY NEW YEAR.
December 2, 2020 Covid still here but churches are open with safety measures. November 22,2020 we finaly had our First Holy Communion Class recieve thier Sacrament that they should have recieved in May 2020. Most Parishioners are still staying home because of Covid . Christmas 2020 will be different as was Thanksgiving because of covid Familys stayed at thier home no gathering together as we would have done.
The "Feast of Immaculate Conception" December 8,2020 we will have 2 Masses will be held 8am at Holy Family and 5:30pm at Immaculate Conception . The Feast Day of "Our Lady of Guadalupe" December 12. 2020 there will be a Mass @ 8:00 am here at Immaculate Conception .
September 8, 2020 today is our Blessed Mother Mary birthday. We continue to fight covid19 and are loosing many parishtionors due to covid19. Mask are required when entering any business social distancing of 6ft and limited copacity.
July 2020 ended and August 2020 started in a sorrowful way as we lost some parishioners to covid19. This horrible virus has changed everyones life and not better. our prayers go out to all that lost a loved one to covid or in any cerconstances . death leaves a emty space that is never filled . may we rest that our freinds and loved one is in peace with our Lord
July 24, 2020 If Covid isn"t enough now huricane
Hanna is on her way. We are still trying to fix damage from Harvey and now alot of rain and wind will be here tonight and tomorrow. Alot of people here in Taft have gotten the Covid19 virus. People are not wanting to wear the mask so it is spreading fast all over texas. As we know with God leading us we will survive this.
2020 is going to go down in history as the year almost
everything closed, people had to stay in thier homes. For weeks no Masses were said live. Most churches did livestream Masses that people watched from home via You tube. Schools were not opened back up after spring break. The life that most of us knew no longer existed.
Now we are the first part of May 2020 and Churches are allowed to open but only 25% capacity which for ICC was 65 people,Livestream continues and Dispensation from the Bishop is still in place.
We are now planning our Confirmations for May 31,2020 here at ICC by Fr. John Mckenzie. First Commumion is waiting a date. As is our Graduation Mass.
With God we shall get thru this unuasal time and remember it for years to come.
Confirmation Mass will be 10:00
Our Graduation Mass is scheduled for July 5, 2020 at Immaculated Conception in Taft Texas 10am Mass we are now at 50% of capacity but have to sart wearing face mask everywhere included Mass. This year is full of changes, but with Faith in God we will get thru this unusual time.
